How do I know if I'm ready to hire a professional organizer?

If you are willing to commit to doing what it takes to create positive changes in your life and are OPEN to working with an expert to achieve these goals, then you are ready!

To create the organized life you want, you have to be ready to modify your environment and develop new habits that will allow them to be sustained.

O.P.E.N. will help you to create the systems and identify the necessary habits, but the change and commitment must come from you. If you are ready for your daily life to be easier, simpler, and more peaceful, then it is time to get started.

How long will it take to get me organized?

The speed and depth of organization depends entirely on you. You set the pace based on the following:

  • How quickly you make decisions
  • How ready you are for the organizing process
  • How much work you do in between sessions

O.P.E.N. will support you at the pace you prefer to make progress. O.P.E.N. encourages all feedback and wants to address any issues as they arise.

Do I have to be there while my space is being organized?

O.P.E.N. is happy to organize your space with or without you being there. O.P.E.N. will never throw anything away and will sort and organize up until the point where final decisions must be made by you. O.P.E.N. encourages you to be fully involved and available during your organizing sessions but recognizes the time commitment is not always practical or possible.

Will I be forced to get rid of items?

O.P.E.N. will never force you to make any decision with which you are uncomfortable. You are the only one who knows whether something continues to have meaning and purpose in your life. O.P.E.N. will assist you in the decision-making process and offer support when making difficult choices.

Should I buy supplies?

There are many details that go into deciding which containers and tools will help you stay organized.

Aside from making sure you have trash and recycling bins on hand during the first session, O.P.E.N. will work with products you already have and make additional recommendations based on your budgetary and organizational needs.

Should I tidy my house/office before the organizing consult?

Please don’t! O.P.E.N. would like to see your actual day-to-day environment, which includes your organizational challenges and clutter. This provides a chance for us to see how you live and will provide valuable information and insight.

Is our work together confidential?

O.P.E.N. adheres to the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Professional Organizers, which stipulates complete client confidentiality.

Can I check client references?

Yes. In addition to any one of our clients featured throughout our website, O.P.E.N. will happily provide additional references upon request.
